Cathy Henning

Teaching at MBA for six years now.

Hi. My name is Cathy Henning. I grew up in a Christian family attending a small Baptist mission in Moore, Oklahoma where my uncle was the pastor. One Sunday night when I was 7, my uncle preached hell hot, and I understood for the first time that I needed to personally accept Christ as the payment for my sins. I went forward in the invitation and told my uncle that I needed to get saved. He showed me the verses in the Bible that I needed to confess Jesus as my Savior. I remember standing up from that prayer with the knowledge that I was a child of God, and my sins were forgiven. I've dedicated my life to sharing that same wonderful news with others that have never heard.

I have been a member of Midway Baptist Church of Del City, Oklahoma for 25 years. As a youth I started coming to Monterrey to help with vacation Bible schools every summer for one week. My eyes were open to the life of a missionary and the needs of Mexico. I attended UCO in Edmond, Oklahoma and received a degree in teaching. One year later, I went to Lima, Peru to teach missionary kids for 2 years. Returning to Oklahoma, I taught in a Christian school for 6 years. My church supported Debi Duryee. I had met on her deputation and had visited her in Monterrey a couple of times on mission trips. She asked for help in teaching the missionary kids in Monterrey, and I knew that God would have me to be a part. One added bonus was getting to teach the hearing children in the deaf church. I knew that I wanted to improve my Spanish, but I've had the opportunity to learn Mexican sign language. It has been a blessing in my life to serve in Monterrey the last 5 years. Thanks for your prayers and financial support making it possible for me to be here.
